Got Some Questions?

I have no doubt that you will have plenty of questions to ask, and I know I love it when there is an informative FAQ page on a website, so hopefully the below should help answer some of the questions you may have.

Where are you?

I'm based in the North West of England, in a lovely little village called Wrightingon. Not too far from Wigan, if you know the area.

It means I'm pretty suitably placed to get to most locations, without any issue.

Will you travel?

I include anything up to 20 miles in my price. Anything above that will be calculated and charged at 45p per mile, But don't worry, all that will be built into your price at the beginning.

What about a destination ceremony?

You can definitely count me in!

Sandy beaches are a favourite of mine, so I am only too happy to oblige.

I will need to pass on the costs of my travel and accommodation, so please bear this is mind if you are thinking of flying a UK celebrant out to your destination wedding.

A celebrant ceremony is a legal wedding, right?

I'm afraid not, no.

If you are wanting to be legally married, you will need to book a registrar. Prices for those will vary, dependent on location, but you will be restricted on when/where you can get married. For a registrar wedding, you must apply 28 days before your actual marriage date. With a celebrant wedding, you don't need to do that, but it is not a legally binding wedding. There is no legal jargon, and no register to sign.

A lot of people will get married in the registry office and then have a seperate 'Wedding' of their choosing. There's a lot of reasons for this, but it's normally to allow people unrestricted creativity.

What days do you work?

I think the easier question would be, what days don't I work? Obviously, I do take time off for little breaks but I am usually available any day, at any time. If you want to get married in the middle of the night, I'm sure I can be available.

The only time I won't be available is on the days that I am conducting other ceremonies, but I will let you know at the time, so you don't send out a search party for me!

Any restrictions?

Yes, there are a few.

I cannot perform religious or legal ceremonies. For that, you will need to seek a vicar or registar. If you need any help finding one, please ask.

If you're thinking of having a wedding ceremony in a hot air balloon or whilst deep diving in the atlantic, I will have to pass. As much as I have tried, I just can't get over the fear of height and open water.

Aside from that, I am pretty easy going. There will undoubtedly be some things that I cannot do, but we can discuss that when we first meet.

Will we have to share you?

Not normally, no.

The only rare time this may happen is if I happen to have 2 ceremonies booked in for the same place on the same day. Otherwise, I will only perform one ceremony on the day. That is to make sure that you have my undivided attention and also avoid any errors or delays.

I do speak to more than one client at a time, but you can rest assured that on your day, you will be my only priority.

How much will it cost?

I wish it was as simple as just giving a set price, but each ceremony is priced according to a number of factors, including distance, hours of work, special requests, accommodation, and any additional services as required. What I can tell you is that when I do give you a price, it will have any extras already included to avoid any nasty surprises further down the line (unless you make additional requests after the original quote is provided).

Is there room to haggle? A day that is cheaper?

Sorry, but no.

A lot of venues and vendors will offer you a slight discount if you get married on say, a Wednesday, but it doesn't work like that for me. I still have to put in the hours to completely personalise your day which is why I ask a lot of questions at the beginning to make sure I only charge you for what you need, rather than a set all-in price.

Are there any extra charges?

There are charges for certain things that aren't included in the ceremony price, but once we have discussed the type of ceremony you are having, I will be able to give you a price for everything, so there are no nasty surprises down the road.

Extra charges will be for things like:

  • Travel - Anything up to 20 miles is included. Anything above will be charged at 45p per mile.
  • Accommodation - This will be on as needed basis. An overnight stay may be required if your ceremony is early in the morning, or over 50 miles away.
  • Costume - If you are having a themed ceremony, and a special outfit is needed, I will need to pass the cost on. Price will depend on what is needed.
  • Script copies - A complimentary copy of your ceremony script is included in the price of your ceremony. If you'd like further copies, they will be charged at £3 each.

We don't know where to start... what do we do?

Do not panic! I'm here to help you in any way I can. Granted, I may not have all the answers, but I will offer any advice I have.

If you need ideas for venues, cakes, colours or themes, even something as simple as the best season, I will share my pearls of wisdom to help try and guide you toward your ideal ceremony.

Bear in mind, I can only offer advice, I cannot book any of the venues or vendors on your behalf. That will need to be done by you. I do, however, liaise with your vendors on the day to make sure it is all plain sailing.

How do I book?

To book in with me, you can either call me or drop me an email or WhatsApp to check that your date is free. If you're happy to go ahead, I will provisionally book you in. I then organise a meeting with you to run through some questions to get a better understanding of what you are looking for and get some details about who the ceremony is for.

I will then send you an email with a copy outline of what we have discussed and an invoice for the booking fee, which will be due 7 days after sending. Once your booking fee is received, I will email you a confirmation of the booking and arrange our next appoitment.

If for any reason, you don't pay the booking fee within 7 days, your booking will automatically be cancelled and offered out to other potential clients.

How do we pay?

I understand that planning the ceremony can be expensive, so I do offer a few ways for you to pay to try and make it as stress-free as possible.

When the booking is made, I will collect a booking fee of £100 to secure your date. If this gets cancelled for any reason, unfortunately I will not be able to refund this.

Once the booking fee is paid, you can either pay in a lump sum payment, or I can take 2 payments of 50% of the outstanding balance to try and spread the cost for you a little. The first instalment will be due 3 months before the day, with the second instalment due 28 days before your ceremony.

If for any reason you make a last minute booking (within 2 months of you ceremony), I will need to take the whole payment in full at the time of booking.

For ease, my invoices do give you the option to either make a direct bank transfer, or there will be a QR code for you to make a card payment, if that is easier for you to do.

Please note: If for any reason you do not make the payments on time, I will have no choice but to cancel your booking. If you are struggling to pay me, please just let me know and we can talk it through.

Ok, we're in! What next?

Skip over to my contact page and get in touch!

You can either complete the booking form, send me an email, text me on WhatsApp, or simply just give me a call.

If for any reason I don't answer straight away, please don't panic. I may be with another client or conducting a ceremony, during which times I like to focus my attention on them. However, I will get back to you as soon as I am able.

I couldn't find an answer to my question...

If there is anything at all that I haven't covered, then please get in touch. I look forward to answering any questions you may have.
